Former White House advisers Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump have mainly stayed quiet on social media and out of the public eye. CNN’s Kate Bennett revealed that the couple may be attempting to distance themselves from former President Donald Trump’s refusal to accept his election results.
Bennett explained Wednesday how Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump are trying to steer clear from the former president’s constant push of conspiracy theories. To this day, Trump claims that Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory was largely due to voter and election fraud. The claim has often been challenged and repeatedly refuted by election officials and judges.
Bennett explained that Trump is incapable of moving on from the 2020 elections. Because of this, the couple does not want to be around the former president despite being Ivanka’s father and Mr. Kushner’s father-in-law.
“This is clearly a former president, who cannot move on, who continues to talk about you know, everything from who betrayed him on a late-night sketch comedy show to the election that he still claims is, you know — was not accurate,” said the CNN correspondent.
“So Jared and Ivanka were with him all the time, so much so that they were coined the Javanka term. This is interesting. They do not want to be around nor do they want to be in the orbit of this continued not being able to move on, not being able to let go. And they’ve made a calculated and thoughtful decision to back away and not spend as much time with the former president, who, of course, also happens to be Ivanka’s father and Jared Kushner’s father-in-law.”
However, despite their attempts to distance themselves from Trump, Mr. Kushner, and Ms. Trump are still highly criticized. CNN’s Jim Acosta blasted the couple, saying that they are distancing themselves when the former president requires a family intervention for continuously pushing his false election claims.
Acosta claimed that the couple’s quiet distancing from Trump was all part of their effort to change their image, knowing that they are no longer welcomed in the society circles they once used to be a part of. Acosta also noted that they stayed quiet rather than condemn the January 6 insurrection incited by the former president’s false claims.
